Geocache Description:

A cache within walking distance of Richmond Beacon and Beacon Micro (GC1EYAM).

Recommended starting point is the footpath directly below Beacon Hill. You will pass the Beacon Micro cache and after finding this cache you can carry on along the footpath to the road.
Beacon Hill was so named because it was the location of one of the chain of beacons (bonfires) used in Elizabethan times to quickly alert the country to an impending attack, famously of the Spanish Armada. The chain of beacons has been lit in recent times to comemmorate events such as the anniversary of the armada in 1988, the millenium and the queen's golden jubilee. It only takes 20 minutes from the lighting of the first bonfire, to get to the last - not bad!

Please ensure the cache is well hidden and watch out for nettles!
