Geocache Description:

This is our third cache. Located in West Almond, NY a place that always brings back fond memories to me. As a young child and into my late teens I would often travel to West Almond with my father for weekend hunting trips with my Uncles and cousins. My Uncle Chet was somewhat of a legand in West Almond and the community building in the village was dedicated to him when he passed a few years ago. We had countless family get togethers at my Uncle Chet and Aunt Elenor's cabin. They once owned a large amount of the land around West Almond, including the land where this cache is located. The state bought it many years ago when Rt 17 was constructed, which is now interstate 86. Cache is very easy to get to off Rt 86 exit and makes a good place to pick up or drop off TB's and other trackables. Very short walking distance with only a little bush whacking. The area is very scenic and state land abounds. Camping at nearby Palmer's pond is highly recommended. Winters are evry harsh in this area. The cache is a medium size tupperware container. As I always do, I left some old bottles along with a few other items. Also I left my my first trackable coin which is a MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE. I'm hoping it will be taken west to Eastern Washington state and placed in one of many caches owned by my sister and brother in-law. For the FTF there are two unplayed NYS lottery tickets.
