Geocache Description:

8/19/2013 We were very happy to be able to be a part of such history and are looking forward to keeping this relic active. Thanks to the original hider, Nostromo and his wife, for placing this cache, the first of its kind in the area. Also many thanks to Rivercacher for maintaining the integrity of the cache since 10/14/2002. Below is the original text of the cache listing:

Nostromo's original text: This is my first geocache, and I believe the first in my city. Actually it is the closest geocache within 90 miles. This is really on a small island in the James River. If looking at topo maps; just know the rail lines are abandoned and have been converted into a bike path... ...I just heard about this 2 days ago on the CNN website, and my wife and I couldn’t wait to plant this first cache. We have already planned out two more in the neighboring Blue Ridge mountains.

-This cache is protected by the Ol' Hides program. A subsidiary of the DGS. Committed to keeping the adventure alive.-
