The cache IS at the posted
coordinates!
Please read the description below for logging
requirements.
Updated/Changed
Requirements as of 12/21/08. See note posted on that date as to
why.
OK, if you actually completed this challenge in 115 minutes you
have definitely fractures some
laws. Most likely you
have super human skills and may have bent the space time
continuum!
So… with that said, you think that you know the city in which you
live? But how
well? If you live in or
near the city of
Sacramento
here is your opportunity to do some exploring of areas that you may
have never seen before.
The challenge is to find at least
one cache within 89 of
the 115 “Minute” squares that cover the City of
Sacramento.
Now come on…
there are 115 squares to explore but you only need to find
caches in 89 of
them
!! (At the time of
publication only 89 of the 115 minute squares had active caches
hidden within their boundaries.)
Now what does this “Minute” square
mean? Let me
explain:
(Highlighted in
RED
are the important numbers)
If you are using the correct Latitude and Longitude format, caches
are hidden with coordinates in the following
format:
N38*
38
.795
W121*
26
.853 – Degrees, Decimal Minutes Format
“N38* & W121*” are the Degrees portion
“
38
.795 &
26
.853” are the Decimal Minutes
For the purposes of this challenge you only need to be concerned
with the Whole Number part of the Decimal Minutes which are the
numbers
38 &
26
. Keeping these in
order would translate to the
N38/W26 Minute
Square
. So for this challenge
you must find one cache in each of the N/W Minute combination
squares that cover the city.
Now
you will not go unguided on your
journey. I have gone
through the effort to prepare a map of the city boundaries** for
you and created the “Minute Square Map Grid” for your
reference. Now I have
to question, “How in the heck did city planners decide where to put
some of the city boundary
lines?” They were doing
pretty good with downtown in the beginning, nice and square, but
then it went all out of control.
Map: Yellow area is
the City of Sacramento. Grid: Minute Squares to find a cache
in.
Rules of this
challenge:
-
You must find at least
one cache within 89 of
the 115 "Minute Squares", which squares are up to
you.
The find can be
for any type of cache. Only caches
found by you on or after the publish date of this challenge can be
counted.
However, what can you do if there are no available caches
within a given square?
-
If you are one of the few that had
already cleared out the Sacramento area prior to this challenge
being published. You have the option to revisit an existing
cache in any given minute square then post a note to that cache
page with your explanation that it is a revisit for the purpose of
this challenge. You can only use 10 revisits for this
challenge. The remainder of your finds will still have to be
found by you after the publication date of this challenge.
If you have already found all of the caches hidden within a
square you can revisit an existing cache then post a note to that
cache page with your explanation that it is a revisit for the
purpose of this challenge. (Do not post a second "Found It"
log unless you are permitted by the cache owner.) You can
only use 10 revisits for this
challenge.
-
If there are simply no active
caches within a given square that Minute Square will be omitted
from the logging requirements. (Active means NOT Archived,
disabled caches still keep that square active) See list of
omitted Minute Squares below.
-
There are 26 Omitted Minute Squares that did not have
caches at the time of publication. All N40 squares, N39 (W32,
31, 28, 27, 25), N38 (W32, 25), N37 (W32, 28, 27), N36 W27, N32
W26, N31 (W28, 25), N30 (W29, 26, 22), N27 (W29, 28, 27, 26,
25)
-
Generally
accepted rules, guidelines and conditions for logging a cache find
apply. These must be bona fide caches listed on Geocaching.com that
you have personally and physically active, found and logged.
NO armchair finds can be used
for this challenge.
-
Use only the "Posted" coordinates for
Mystery and Multi caches. Use of puzzle solutions or
subsequent stages of multi stages will not be permitted as it will
give away the cache location.
-
You must visit the final cache at the
posted coordinates and sign the log. If you visit this
challenge cache in a group, only those who have completed the
logging requirements may post their "Found It" log. All
others will be deleted.
-
For the "Boarder" squares. Any
cache within the "Minute Square" can be used even if it falls
outside the city boundary. But in-city caches are
preferred.
To Log
This Challenge:
-
Keeping in mind all of the above rules, when you have finished your
tour, you must visit the final cache at the posted coordinates and
sign the log.
-
Preferred Method, and fastest for me to process: Create a
bookmark of your qualifying finds and include this challenge.
Note each "Minute Square" grid for each cache. Post a note to
this page and I will review your list of finds. (Remember,
only caches found on or after the publish date of this challenge
will count)
-
Other Methods: List your finds in a note log for
review.
-
I will review your submitted list usually within 48 to 72
hours. Not that it would become an issue but I will review
lists in the order in which they are submitted.
-
Difficulty of this challenge is base upon the work that
must be done to earn that "Found It" log. Terrain is based
upon the final container hide.
