This cache is part of our It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World series. The caches are placed at various locations where the movie was actually filmed. Kind of fun to think that you are standing right where the original actors were when they were filming.
This location is in the opening scene before Smiler Grogan "sailed right out there". As the movie opens Smiler Grogan races down this winding mountain road passing every vehicle with reckless abandon. But as fate would have it old Smiler fails to negotiate this curve and "sails right out there".
The cache is located near the only turnout that's about 500 feet south of the actual curve and point of launch ramp (now gone) where the Smiler's car "went sailing out there". The launch ramp was just past the rock outcropping and was torn down after the filming was complete.
