The Appalachian Center for Craft, a satellite campus of Tennessee
Tech University (TTU), is a place where students explore diverse
options in professional craft studies. The Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree is the centerpiece of the Craft Center's academic programs
and has five concentrations: clay, fibers, glass, metals and wood.
Over 100 workshops are offered each year in blacksmithing, clay,
fibers, glass, metals and wood; also available are drawing,
painting, and photography classes. The Craft Center is located on
over 500 wooded acres overlooking Center Hill Lake in scenic Middle
Tennessee near the town of Smithville. The facility was built in
1979 and exceeds 87,000 square feet of spacious studios, gallery,
exhibitions, administrative offices, library, cafe, student housing
and meeting/audio visual rooms. The path to the cache is a trail
that contains art produced by students - an art gallery in the
woods. Feel free to stop and admire each piece along the way to the
big CACHE PRIZE!! (pun intended)
