The I-80 Summit cache is above the highest point of this highway,
at least in the West, and is located just 0.15 mi from easy
parking. Many have visited this Rest Stop, but how many have
ventured beyond the rest rooms? Here is your chance! During three
seasons of the year the way is easy, although I would advise good
shoes. Once the snow falls, however, you are on your own!
The cache container is rectangular in shape, measuring 6" x 12"
x 3" deep, and is colored in a way that may make it difficult to
spot. 7/15/2005 Update - the container is now a small Ammo Box.
6/27/09 Update - Another container change. Now a simpler
small/medium container. When placed it contained:
- A LEGO Cameraman from DragonSlayer Cache,
- Two small pencil erasers,
- A Bag of Body Parts,
- A Chap Grip from Sandy Cove Cache,
- A Bubble Pendant,
- A Flashlight,
- A Personal Mini-Fan from Historic City Cache,
- Twelve New Quarters,
- A Yellow Frog,
- A Foam World Globe,
- A Packet of Flower Seeds,
- A Tape Measure from I-80 #1 Vaca-Pena Cache,
- A Collapsable Cup,
- Some Lint Removal Sheets,
- A Rubber Snake,
- And Lip Balm.
Plus a GeoCaching Notice, Log Book, Pen, Pencils, and Sharpener.
