Kegnæs fyr er et af ialt 5 fyrtårne på Als

Det første Kegnæs fyr blev etableret i 1845 og bestod af et tårn sammenbygget med fyrmesterboligen. I forbindelse med den 2. Slesvigske krig overgik fyret i 1864 til de tyske myndigheder.
I 1896 opførtes det nuværende 18 meter høje tårn og fyret blev ved samme lejlighed omdannet til vinkelfyr med blink karakter, hvor jalousier i lanternen sørgede for frembringelse af blinkgrupperne.

Det gamle fyr fra 1845 er for længst fjernet, men den oprindelige fyrmesterbolig findes stadig og fungerer i dag som privatbolig.
Ved afslutningen af 1. verdenskrig overleveredes fyret i juli 1920 af Regierungs- und Baurat Michels, som repræsentant for Regeringspræsidenten i Slesvig, til Fyringeniør F. N. Brinch. Samme år blev der monteret glødenetsbrænder til petroleum og i årene efter opførtes en ny fyrmesterbolig.

Udover Kegnæs fyr er Ballebro, Gammel Pøl, Lågemade, Nordborg, Rinkenæs, Skodsbøl, Taksensand, Tranerodde, Årø og Årøsund fyr opført i perioden under tysk herredømme.

I 1973 gennemførtes en istandsættelse af fyret. Dette skete igen i 1995, hvor det blev restaureret og malet. Fyret er opført med en speciel stor type brændte sten, som ikke anvendes længere. Ved den seneste restaurering var der behov for udskiftning af nogle af disse sten. Heldigvis lykkedes det håndværkerne at få fremskaffet nogle tilsvarende, så det oprindelige udseende kunne bevares.

Fyret er stadig vinkelfyr og kan ses i 10-14 sømils afstand. Det er beliggende på den 17 km² store halvø, som fyret har navn efter, og er det sydligste fyr på Als.



Kegnæs lighthouse is one of a total of five lighthouses on Als
The first Kegnæs lighthouse was established in 1845 and consisted of a tower built together with the lighthouse keeper. In the 2nd Schleswig War surpassed fired in 1864 to the German authorities. In 1896 built the current 18-meter tower and lighthouse was at the same time converted to angle light with flashing character which louvers in the lantern arranged for producing flashes groups.

The old lighthouse from 1845 has long since been removed, but the original lighthouse still exists and operates today as a private residence. At the end of WW1 survive was fired in July 1920 by Regierungs- und Baurat Michels, as representative of the Government the President of Schleswig, to the lighthouse engineer F. N. Brinch. That same year mounted glow nets burner for kerosene and for years afterwards built a new lighthouse.

Besides Kegnæs lighthouse is Ballebro, Gammel Pøl, Lågemade, Nordborg, Rinkenæs, Skodsbøl, Taksensand, Tranerodde, Årø and Årøsund lighthouse built in the period under German rule.

In 1973 carried out the renovation of the lighthouse. This happened again in 1995 when it was restored and painted. The lighthouse was built with a special large type burnt stones, which are not used anymore. In the latest restoration was needed to replace some of these stones. Luckily, the craftsmen to get hold of some similar, so the original appearance could be preserved.

The lighthouse is still angle light and can be seen in the 10-14 mile distance. It is located on the 17 km² peninsula lighthouse is named after, and is the southernmost lighthouse on Als.
