A nice hike on the western side of the valley.
This cache exactly doubles the number of caches in Bykle Kommune. Both of the caches are in the vicinity of Hovden.
Hovden is the largest ski resort in southern Norway. It has many great ski trails and slopes during the winter, but also has extensive hiking trails of varying difficulty for summer use. The community also boasts great paddling opportunities, an indoor waterpark (several pools with two waterslides), and an iron mining museum.
The hike is advertised as taking 2-3 hours, but can be done in less time. We did it in 1.75 hours with three breaks. The trailhead is located in the Hovden Fjellpark neighorhood. Signage leading to the neighborhood and the trailhead is adequate once on the loop road that crosses the river. The trailhead and trail are marked. With this info and the scanned copy of the map from the tursti guidebook, one can find one's way without visiting the the tourist info office to pick up a one's own free copy, though I always find having a paper map handy.
