Geocache Description:

Have you ever wondered how easy it is to trace interference from illegal radio transmissions?

It can be very easy to locate Pirate Radio Stations, and other sources of harmful interference, if you use the correct equipment, e.g. a directional radio receiver.

The 35mm film pot cache is located within 5km of the above co-ordinates and you will need to use the general principle of direction-finding to locate it.

To direction-find this cache you will need to know the starting co-ordinates of the following three caches:
GC1EVMH Watt Mast #4 (Little Chef, Pevensey);
GC1EJ1Q Watt Mast #2 (New Barn Farm, Hooe); and
GC1F6N7 Hidden and Dangerous #4 (DGH, Eastbourne).

You will need to predict the following bearings from the three cache sites:
GC1EVMH Watt Mast # (Little Chef, Pevensey): 265 degrees;
GC1EJ1Q Watt Mast # (New Barn Farm, Hooe): 244 degrees; and
GC1F6N7 Hidden and Dangerous #4 (DGH, Eastbourne): 359 degrees.

To make it easier, these are True bearings, e.g. as used on Google Earth, rather than Magnetic bearings as used on a compass.
Where the three bearings cross should be the general area, typically within 100m, of the interference source, e.g. antenna (or cache, in this case).

Once in the general area (Polegate, I hope!) you will need to look around to find the guilty antenna. This one shouldn't be too difficult to find, even in the dark, because it is on probably the tallest mast for miles.

Usually, once the antenna is found it is then just a case of following the antenna cable back to the transmitter. Easy, huh!

Suitable security measures however prevent access to the antenna at this legal transmitter site. So please assume that the transmitter (cache) is located nearby to the south at N?? ??.?87 E000 1?.?90 (this should be where your three lines crossed)
I believe that the easiest way to access this cache is to walk in from the west; although from the east is also possible. (Look at the satellite picture and you will see.)

If you enjoy finding mystery caches that require you to use your map reading skills then perhaps you will like to try 'In the Defence of the Realm- Chailey' (GC1EE64).
Tally Ho! Tally Ho! Let's hope the RV of your Sortie is Bang On!

It's a bit of a trek for only one cache but I think that the view is worth it.

UPDATE: with so few finds, I thought it might be helpful to make the final location a little easier to find. So the new pubished co-ordinates are now directly south of the cache co-ordinates.

Good luck.
