Swamp Gas & Fulgurites ??
A cache in a nice Soccer Park. But, there is more of a story to this area!
In the late 1970's there were lots of reports of strange color lights, odd noises and large sonic booms coming from this area. Oakland County was full of them! Three boys lived across the pond and played in this area often. At 9:10 pm, on July 9th, 1978 they saw a disc shaped object hovering over the power transformers, caught a line, and come down hard on the flatlands near where the soccer fields are now. They ran home and had their parents call the sheriff.
At the same time the area lost power. Detroit Edison had a major power drain, and 800 customers in the area lost power and
12,000 customers had a major "Brown Out". (Check out this date.)
The lone sheriff answered the call at 10:20PM and came to the site, a Full Moon was in the sky and the field had an erie glow. He reported seeing five small grass fires and live wires down. He also saw three small figures dressed in strange gray suits with large green eyes walking down towards the hillside near the pond! (The cache site.) The sheriff was imediately called back to Holly to help with the power outage and transformer fire detail and questioned further. Later investigation found eight large Fulgurites (Latin for "lightning stone") that were determined to be caused by lightning in the area. The lights were determined to be SWAMP GAS and northern lights. However ,there were no storms in the area at the time of the strange sightings to cause the Fulgurites or such damage to the relay station.
Within a year, all three boys families moved away from the area and the sheriff ......took up drinking and lost his job. (He is now a full time cacher!) He is in the top 75 cachers in Michigan, but I won't tell which one. No, it is not me, I say! I work at a prison (GC180W5) LOL!.
Within two years, the small power relay station was moved closer to Holly and this area was made into a soccer park in 1986 >

It will NEVER be open after dark!!
There is a metal automatic gate placed here for that reason. DO NOT COME NEAR DARK OR YOU WILL BE LOCKED IN, INSTEAD OF BEING LOCKED OUT!!!
