Geocache Description:

Welcome To New River Beach Provincial Park

New River Beach Provincial Park has many hiking trails and a very nice campground.This Earth cache has been placed here,for you can see the Cusps on the beach and to see the hide tides of New Brunswick.At low tide you can walk way out from shore and hight tide is the best time to see the Cusps - The Scalloped Beachface at the top of the beach....Have fun walking on the beach,looking at the rock ledges and how they are slowly breaking away.... Cusps are shoreline formations made up of various grades of sediment in an arc pattern where the wave hit the beach at an angle. The horns are made up of coarser materials and the embayment (center section) contains all the finer grain sediment. They generally occur in a regular pattern with cusps of equal size and spacing forming. There are a number of theories as to why beach cusps are formed but current research gives real to only two of these explanations the Self-organization Theory and Standing Edge Wave Theoryhttp://img.geocaching.com/cache/7dd1824f-ff8e-4c32-9aed-f6ef31237c4a.jpg The Bay of Fundy tides are a result of the tidal action originating in the Southern Indian Ocean sweeping around the Cape of Good Hope and then northward into the Bay of Fundy. They are also affected by the distance of the moon from the earth at this longitude.. To log this cache, you must post a photo of yourself or your hand with your GPS showing the view of the cobble beach cusps in the background and at high or low tide....And email me through my profile the answers to the following questions: Many feet are between the start of a Cusps to the start or another...And how far do you think the tide goes out at low tide,
