Die spritzige Jagd nach
diesem Cache führt euch auf der Sauer von Wallendorf nach
Echternach. Die Tour ist gut in 4-5 Stunden zu machen, etwas länger
wenn ihr noch Zwischenstopps z.b. im schönen Bollendorf einplanen
wollt. Ihr braucht kein eigenes Kanu/Boot, sondern könnt hier eins mieten. Bitte dort
VOR der Tour ein Kanu reservieren. Preise erfahrt ihr auf der
Homepage (normal für ein 2er Kajak €30). Dieser Anbieter ist
über den Geocache informiert und wenn man sagt, dass man Geocacher
ist gibt es evtl. einen kleinen Rabatt (nicht garantiert).
Alternativ gibt es auch andere Verleihe in der Region. Theoretisch
ist es auch möglich alle Wegpunkte mit dem Auto zu erreichen,
allerdings muss man dann mit grossen Umwegen, dickem Gebüsch und
einigen Wat-Einlagen rechnen. Der Wasserweg ist nicht nur schöner
sondern auch einfacher.
This splashy cache hunt leads you from the village of Wallendorf on
the Sauer river to Echternach. You should be able to finish the
tour in 4-5 hours or longer if you intent to have some breaks in
between, for example in the beautiful village of Bollendorf. There
is no need to bring your own canoe, you can rent it here. Please reserve a Kanu
there BEFORE you do the cache. Prices are listed on the Homepage
(normaly €30 for a 2 Person Kajak) This place is informed
about the Geocache and if you say that you are a Geocacher, you
might become the boot a litte cheaper (no guarantee) Alternativly
there are more places to reserve a Kanu in the area. In theory, you
could also do all waypoints by car, but it will require a lot of
searching, driving, running through bushes and wading. So, the
canoe version is not only more scenic but also easier.

Am besten ist es wenn ihr mit zwei Autos anreist, eins bei N 49°
48.756 E 6° 26.084 abstellt und das andere dann an den
Start-Koordinaten. Alternativ gibt es stündliche Busverbindungen
auf der Luxemburger Seite entlang der Sauer zurück in die Nähe der
Startkoordination, welche ihr nutzen könnt, um wieder zum Auto
zurück zu kommen.
Begebt euch zu den Startkoordinaten und sucht dort nach dem ersten
Hinweis. Um die weiteren Hinweise zu finden, müsst ihr euch an der
Karte orientieren. Alle Hinweise und zu lösenden Fragen befinden
sich an markanten landschaftlichen oder architektonischen Punkten
und können eigentlich schwer übersehen werden wenn man einigermaßen
aufpasst. Nach dem finden des letzten Hinweises (siehe Karte)
solltet ihr euch umgehend and die Berechnung der Final-Koordinaten
machen um nicht aus Versehen vorbei zu fahren. Wir haben uns alle
Mühe gegeben, den Cache hochwasserfest zu gestalten, allerdings
können wir da natürlich für nichts garantieren. Das heißt es kann
sein das nach einem Hochwasser der ein oder andere Hinweis abhanden
gekommen sein kann. Während der Hochwasser-Zeit selbst ist die
Sauer ein reißender Strom und eine Befahrung ist dann
LEBENSGEFÄHRLICH (und ihr werdet auch garantiert keine Kanus mieten
können). Ebenso im Winter und bei sher schlechtem Wetter.
It is probably best if you bring two cars, so you can park one at N
49° 48.756 E 6° 26.084 and the other one at the cache start
coordinates. Alternatively, there is an hourly bus connection on
the Luxemburgish side of the river from Echternach back to the
start coordinates.
Go to the start coordinates and search for the first hint. To find
the other hints, you have to use the map. All stages and questions
to answer are located at distinctive natural or architectural land
marks. After finding the last hint, you should calculate the final
coordinates directly to avoid the danger to go past it with the
boat. We tried hard to make the cache flooding secure but we cannot
guarantee that all hints are still there after severe flooding.
During the flooding period, the Sauer river turns into a wild
stream and the tour gets life threatening, so don’t do it
then (and you will not get any canoes anywhere). Also in the winter
and by very bad weather.
