Geocache Description:

My little village of Dansville didn’t used to be so little. In fact, it was once considered to become Michigan’s capital city! But a series of large fires devastated the town causing many of the businesses to move to be nearer to the railroads, and today, Dansville is so small that it doesn’t even have a blinking light at the four corners.

The original hand pumper used to fight those fires was recently restored and resides here in the original fire hall, built in 1867. The siren that sits out front is from a later era, but I can still remember hearing it from my house as it sounded the cry for the volunteer fire fighters to come in from their fields to jump on the truck and head to the fire. My dad was on the VFD for many, many years.
