4,8,15,16,23,42. These numbers may not mean a thing to you.
They may mean a whole lot to you. That's something only you will
know. They were popularized by a pretty good TV show, maybe you've
seen it? However, I'm not here to chit-chat, that can be saved for
the forums. I'm here to give you a challenge, if you want to take
me up on it.
If you have ever seen, attempted, or heard of the
Indiana Baker's Dozen Challenge, you may understand a little
better how this challenge works.
The Challenge is to find four caches on a given day; eight caches
on another day; fifteen caches on another day, sixteen on another
day; twenty-three on yet another day and finally finding forty two
caches on a day. However; they can be done in any order and do not
need to be on consecutive days. For instance, on day #1, you might
find eight caches. Now you have your 8-caches-on-a-day completed. A
couple of days later you might find twenty-three caches. OK, now
you have your 23-caches-on-a-day completed. Therefore; the minimum
number of days that it would take to complete this Challenge is 6
days. The cache amount you find for the day needs to be EXACTLY
that of the number you are seeking.
NOTE: Your cache finds DO NOT have to be in Ohio.
Below are three additional stipulations:
1. I will explain this stipulation by using an example. Let's say
that all you have left to do to complete the Challenge is to find 8
caches on a day. You look at your find's log and discover that a
while back you found 9 caches on that day. You might think that
this would complete the Challenge for you. Wrong! If you need to
find 8 caches on a day, then this means that you need to find (or
have found) exactly 8 caches on that day and no more.
2. On each caching day, you must find at least one Wherigo,
multicache, earthcache,or puzzle cache. They can't all be good ole
traditional caches.
3. No finds before the published date (08/16/2008) of
this cache are relevant to this Challenge in order to even out the
playing field for everyone.
NOTE: Other than the multi, earthcache, puzzle or wherigo
requirement, the other caches for a day can be of any type,
including additional multis, puzzles or wherigo caches. However
event caches (not permanent) will not count.
To complete this Challenge cache, do the following:
1. Keeping in mind the requirements stated above, find and log the
six days of caching which consisted of four caches found on a day,
eight caches found on a day, fifteen caches found on a day, sixteen
caches found on a day, twenty-three caches found on a day and
finally forty two caches found on a day.
2. Create a public bookmark called "The Lost Challenge -
yourcachingname" which contains 7 cache names inside it. These
caches are the Wherigo, multicache or puzzle cache that you found
on each of those six days of caching. Include in the comments field
the date that the cache(s) were found and whether this was a
4-cache-day or a 15-cache-day or a 23-cache-day, etc. The 7th entry
in this bookmark needs to be this Lost Challenge cache itself. It's
fine to create the bookmark before you are done to track your
progress. Just let me know when you have completed the challenge.
If you are not a premium member and cannot create bookmarks, either
keep track of your totals and post them as a note when you complete
them and wait for verification.
3. Once you complete your bookmark (if making one), post a note to
this cache page along with a found it note or prior to searching.
No longer needed approval before you may seek out your Lost
Challenge final cache.
Good luck...and watch out for clouds of smoke and the Others.
