A lovely walk alondside the Eden, accessible with kids buggies, a good footpath with only a slight rise in the last 100 yards. Sometimes a bit muddy after heavy rain.
To approach this cache you need to follow a little lane at the bottom of a steep hill in Culgaith called The Pea. (It is opposite a new housing estate called Otters Holt. The road leads to a large gate with signs for Hag Wood. Park the car here to start your walk. At a leisurely walk it takes about 15 minutes to walk to the cache. You can make this a longer walk by following the footpath round to Culgaith. This will take in the region of an hour.
The path takes you along the river Eden. It is loveley either early morning or early in the evening. A host of wildlife can be found and there is a nice wild meadow area where butterflies can be found in abundance. Excellent fishing waters with Salmon and trout regularly caught here (private fishing)
Ideal place for dog walking, especially if your dog likes a dip in the water. It is also a good place most of the time for kids to bring fishing nets. Just be aware as with most rivers after heavy rain the river can get quite fast, with some steep drop off areas.
