Geocache Description:

It isn’t the most upscale part of Corvallis, but it’s a place with a lot of pride and friendliness. This site will show you what the locals have created to demonstrate what neighborhood involvement and generosity can accomplish.

In 1996, the people in the community applied for and received a grant from the Neighborhood Empowerment Program through the Corvallis Community Development Department. They used the money to purchase materials, and then put volunteer work parties together to build this structure, complete with carved Celtic lettering and designs. They’ve kept it well maintained since then. In 2007, the Corvallis Gazette-Times called this the finest in the city in a feature article about this section of town.
