Geocache Description:

Cache is a 35mm film cannister, very well camoflaged to match surroundings. Contains only a log; bring pen. Be careful climbing on the rocks. Placement of this cache has been approved by the park manager, Kalispell Regional Office, Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

Wild Horse Island is a 2,163 acre primitive state park accessible by boat at six public landing sites, including Rocky Bar. There are no public docks at any of the 56 privately owned parcels.

The island was created more than 17,000 years ago during a period of heavy glacial activity. Exploration reveals mature Douglas fir and Ponderosa pine forests as well as a last remnant of Montana's native grassland, the palouse prairie. More than 100 different birds and mammals inhabit the island, including a few wild mustangs kept alive through the BLM's "Adopt a Horse" program.

No camping, no fires. Pack it in, pack it out.
