Hi Pete
Yesterday we are heading west along the Nullarbor not too sure
how far we would get. We weren't keen on heading all the way across
to Mundijong in one day. We had a few stops along the way and met
this guy called John at a roadhouse and we were telling them how we
were geocaching and he said that they knew a bloke who used to
cache but then he witnessed a UFO trying to lift up a car that was
driving along the Eyre Highway late last year and hasn’t cached
since. This sounded interesting so we thought that we would try to
find him and see what UFO’s had to do with caching. Funny enough
they said that he sleeps all day and is waiting for the UFO to come
back so he drives the highway all night hoping that it will return.
They gave us some directions on where we could find him. When we
heard this we thought that we should stay here in South Australia
for the night and catch up with him.
Just on dusk we headed out to where John had said Dave lived.
When we got there he said that he was Dave but wouldn’t talk to us
even though we said that we were cachers until he look at
geocaching.com.au and saw my info. Then we couldn’t shut him
up!
He said that he has come across the UFO’s several times. It
first started back in late January 1988 shortly after the Knowles
family were chased by a UFO in the same area. Back then he was a
truck driver driving between Perth and Sydney and used to see
lights in the sky all the time and at times they would follow
him.
Dave said at first they had him worried but after a while he
became used to it. Then in 2003 a friend introduced him to
geocaching and he stopped to do Neptune (GCG399), a cache by
TeamAstro, when a UFO landed next to his truck. At this stage he
had found the cache and was ready to go but he couldn’t. Then he
said that the aliens started talking to him telepathically and they
were able to hear what he was thinking.
After talking to them for a while he found out the also did
intergalactic caching, much the same as geocaching but they use
three sets of coordinates, planetatude, longitude and latitude.
They had been looking for this cache for a long time and that’s why
he had seen them in the area so much.
They said that they had placed a cache in most states in
Australia but as well as putting the coordinates on internet they
also leave geocoins in the cache with the coordinates for another
cache. They gave Dave on of the coins for him to see if he could
find his cache. But he can’t work it out, that’s why he is out
looking for them each night to get a clue from them to help find
the cache. He showed us this coin and it was just like the one I
had got out of We Come in Peace, GC1DA0H, an cache by Nasuv the
Zusachner. I thought it was just an ordinary swap but now I realise
that it is actually an intergalactic geocoin how exciting!
We have sat there all night but with out the internet we have no
hope to work it out. Can you please help so that we can get Dave
caching again
Cheers
Trav
