The cache is a lock and lock plastic container situated near the
Charlesfield Bridge, on the banks of the river Almond. Parking is
available on nearby residential streets, or outside the Almond
Valley Heritage Centre, which is signposted from all around
Livingston on the brown tourist signs.
The riverside path runs past the outside of the Almond Valley
Heritage Centre (also known as Mill Farm to the locals) which is a
great place to take the kids for a day out. Although the entrance
fees are reasonable, you do not need to pay to access the riverside
area. The Charlesfield Bridge, which was officially opened by
Princess Anne in September 2006, allows centre visitors to cross
the river and see the orchard, archaeology tent, go-karts, quoits
field and other features.
The path is quite wide here, but take care with small children
near the water as the river can be fast and deep. Also, beware of
the muggles looking down on you from the bridge as it overlooks the
cache site.
