Geocache Description:

The title of this multi-cache refers to the fact that the cache lies along the top of the southern escarpment of the Marlborough Downs, overlooking the Pewsey Valley.

TedsTeam have adopted this cache from Bonaccord and made it the Bonus Cache for those doing the Martinsell Ring. It can however, still be done as a standalone cache.

THE ABOVE CO-ORDINATES ARE FOR THE CAR PARK

For those doing the Ring, the information can be obtained near #3 (Pork Pie Corner) and the cache found later on during the return journey to the car park.

For those wishing to do it as a solo cache, read on:-

If you want a ‘Cache and Dash’ this is not for you. However, if you enjoy a walk in wonderful countryside with fabulous views then read on. It would be a superb place to take children (although buggies are out of the question). The walk (about two miles in all)is especially rewarding on a fine sunny day, but hardy cachers will enjoy this one whatever the weather. Most of the way is on grassy paths but there can be a few muddy patches – there are no stiles.

Walk through the gate towards Martinsell Hill, and where the track divides take the left-hand route up the hill and through the trees onto the edge of the ancient Iron Age hill fort. It covers a huge area (32 acres). Walk around the edge, enjoying the stunning views over the valley far below.

TO FIND THE CACHE GO TO :- N51 22.313 W001 44.933

where you will be able to work out the location of the actual cache. There is a small circular sign here. Counting ALL the letters on the sign work out the following:

A = The number of Ms, plus the number of Ds
B = The number of Ws, plus the number of Is, less the number of Ms
C = The number of Ss
D = The number of Ms, plus the number of Is
E = The number of Ms, less the number of Ts

The actual cache can be found at N51 22.ABC W001 44.DED

For those doing it as a lone cache, you reach the cache location by either retracing your steps along the ridge again, or alternatively make the complete circuit around the edge of the hill fort.

This cache is in a high muggle zone and has gone missing before. The new cache is a small camo container containing log, pencil and sharpener. If it survives more than a month we'll add a TB.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DESCEND TO THE VALLEY FLOOR TO FIND THIS CACHE OR ANY OF THE MARTINSELL SERIES
