Apiti Lookout (Manawatu) Traditional Cache

This cache is located at a view point on the Manawatu Gorge track and is hidden not far from a sign bearing the name of the cache.
This cache is a small 200 ml Systema container painted to fit in with its environment. It contains a logbook and some small exchange items and a Diabetes TB. Please be sure to carefully return it to its hidey hole as the track is a high use one and the cache will be muggled if you do not take care in securing it from easy sight. Take care to avoid trampling the undergrowth too much.
The Gorge track is very well maintained by DOC with most of it easy walking except for a few steep bits which are stepped so children can and do handle the walk. It will take between an hour to 1.5 hrs to reach the cache depending on what end of the gorge you start from (shorter time from the West side). About 30 mins separates this cache from the other cache on the track - "East Meets West" so if you have a mind to you can knock off two caches on the one trip (note the changed coords for East meets West which you can find in the log history for this cache). A very nice patch of bush worth the effort walking through it.
