Old Webster Schoolhouse Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Cache is located on level terrain but is not wheelchair accessible. Park off the roadway near the intersection. A short walk about ten feet into the brush will get you to the cache containing small trade items and a FTF prize, if your lucky it may make your day.

The cache is a fist sized black taped plastic bottle placed across the road from the old Webster school house.
The school was built in 1905 in the small patch of mining company owned homes called Sagon, near Shamokin. The school building is now privately owned and is posted no trespassing.

My paternal grandfather was born in Ireland and migrated to the United States as a young man. He later settled with his family in the hard coal region of Pennsylvania where he found employment as a coal miner. After being severely injured in a mining accident and losing his arm, he became a teacher and taught in this building during the 1920's.
