hamfolk: Yes, the builder has plowed the area where the cache was located. No sense in putting a new one around here.

Geocache Description:

This is one part of a series of caches that we are putting in the historic neighborhoods of Charlotte, NC. You are looking for a camo taped three inch long cylinder. You will need to have your own pen. Tweezers might come in handy.

Oakhurst is a working class neighborhood built up in the early 1960's, although there are older homes here too. During the morning drive time to work many locals meet a gas station on Monroe Road (the main road through the neighborhood) and take a few minutes to talk over their morning coffee. Across the street was an old style filling station turned bar called Jerry C's Service which later took on the tongue-in-cheek name of the "Oakhurst Country Club". A factory shared the lot, but both it and the country club are now gone. The neighborhood lately, however, has shown signs of coming back due to it's proximity and road into center city.
