Geocache Description:

Mason Rail Trail South Progressive Challenge #1 This cache series will bring you to a nice old rail trail that runs from Greenville, New Hampshire to Ayer, Massachusetts. The trains used to take passengers to and from Boston and carry granite from the nearby quarries to the world. Now the railroad bed offers pleasant travel to hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders.

The first cache (#1) has been placed near a trailhead. We would like to invite you to place another cache in this series further along the trail.

The guidelines are simple:

(1) You are NOT required to place a cache to participate in this series, but we hope that you enjoy finding the caches and exploring the old rail bed along the way.

(2) All caches should be traditionals. No micros, multis, or puzzles. Caches must be placed within 100 feet of the trail and have a difficulty rating of 3 or less.

(3) New caches must be placed at least 0.25 mile from existing caches to meet Geocaching.com density requirements for this cache series. You can place as many new caches as you wish as long as this separation is maintained.

(4) The next cache should be named “Mason Rail Trail South Progressive Challenge #2” (or whatever consecutive number would apply). The short description should read "This cache is being placed as part of The Mason Rail Trail South Progressive Challenge. Please go to waypoint GC1FB5J for complete details.”

(5) New caches do not necessarily have to be placed in order. For example, If you can fit a cache between #3 and #4 that meets the separation requirements (.25 mile ) you may place such a cache and name it #3.5.

(6) If you intend to place a cache as part of this series please post a note log letting other cachers know.

(7) You MUST reside within a reasonable distance to be able to maintain this cache. YOU are responsible for maintaining the cache YOU decide to place, not another nearby local cacher. There will be no adopting of caches for the sake of maintenance.

(8) Geocaching.com Volunteer Reviewers have the final decision on what can and cannot be published as a part of this series.

Things are some what over grown south of Turnpike Rd in Townsend MA so this series will end there for now.

I would also like to CHALLENGE all cachers to make sure that every cache in this series has at least 1 TRACKABLE ITEM in it at all times.

Thank you  wemedge for pointing out this untapped trail and your input on the cache listing.
