Backer Park is one of the newer parks in Elk Grove. Henry Backer, Sr. was a Bavarian immigrant who settled in the Sacramento area in the late 19th century. Henry went on to become a successful farmer in the Elk Grove/Franklin area, where several generations of his family continued to farm. This park site is located on the original homestead.
The park was fully opened on November 26, 2008.
The cache is a micro and magnetic (but that won’t help much (or will it?)). Personally I don’t care as much for micros since it’s so darn difficult to get the log out, not to mention back in, but the landscaping is so new there weren’t many other choices. I’m not sure my cache construction is as good as it could be, so if there is a problem or suggestion, please let me know. Bring your own writing implement. You will probably want or need a log extraction tool(s), and it's been suggested that a cache extraction tool might be necessary, but it should be OK without... Please let me know.
This park is only open from sunrise until one hour after sunset. Please respect the park hours, and play nicely or I’ll take away your recess.
3-7-10 ::: Please don't "push" the cache container back into its hiding spot. It should stay just fine without being pushed.
