Trek to Hearst Lodge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Red Witch: There was so much damage done on this trail a few years ago and then it was closed so the cache was unavailable. However, this cache was last found in 2015 and if mkleggs couldn’t find it I think it is a safe bet that it is gone so I am archiving it.

Geocache Description:

On the Fundy Trail east of St. Martins. Named after the first cache placed in this area.

Drive to the end of the Fundy Trail Parkway then cross the Big Salmon River footbridge and TAKE THE SCENIC FOOTPATH along the river towards Hearst Lodge. This cache is located approx. mid way between the end of the suspension bridge and my other cache, 'Big Salmon's Tiny Treasure'. The trail is rated as "challenging" which is accurate; some climbing, lots of roots and rocks, although the tougher parts of the trail are between the two caches. Cache is a small plastic camo'd container with a green lid and contains a log sheet and a few SMALL traders. It is adjacent to the trail so no need to trample the delicate flora and fauna in the area.

The Fundy Trail is open to vehicular traffic from the Victoria Day weekend in May thru the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend in October with an admittance fee. (visit link)
It is a 13 km hike from the main gate to the Interpretive Center when the park is closed.

AS ALWAYS, PLEASE LEAVE THE CACHE AS WELL OR BETTER HIDDEN THAN YOU FOUND IT!
