| The beauty of the Eastern Sierra Nevada range, and especially June Lake, is astonishing from the top of Oh! Ridge. It is easy to see how the ridge got its name. Sunsets on Oh! Ridge take your breath away. We like to stop awhile with drink and snacks and watch the sunset colors reflect on the lake and clouds as the day turns into evening. It was here that we spent many contented hours with my Dad, Ed “Termite” Termath. Since WWII he hadn’t been one to want to travel much and he stayed close to home, but he loved to come here and be within the forest and the trees. He had spent some time in the forest service and had a respect for the wild beauty of the living trees. He was a talented wood worker who would get inspirations and translate them in to wood. He would look at and run his hands over a piece of wood and it would tell him its secrets which he would coax out with his skill. Here on Oh! Ridge the years melted away from him and he would tell us tales of his time in the forests. It was here, in the sunset of his life, that we would stop with Dad for awhile and listen to the stories and learn the wisdom of his life. When he left us we thought the stories and wisdom had ended. But when we come here we hear them again and know that he is still here, amid the forests and trees he loved. We have placed this cache in memory of Ed “Termite” Termath. May all who come here, stop a while and appreciate the forests and remember for a moment a man who loved them.
