Our first cache placement is located on a bridleway very near the rear perimeter of Hassocks Golf Course, but is not on the course itself. It's a 35mm pot with log sheet only.
Opened in 1995, the 18 hole Par 70 course has many strategically placed water hazards and bunkers.
Please note that there's no access to the cache from within the golf course grounds, so please don't go tramping across the greens! There is a public footpath running across the course from Hassocks (watch out for whizzing balls!) which joins with other paths that give access to the cache. Alternatively, there's a bridleway that affords a more protected route! Otherwise, access can be made via footpaths from Hurstpierpoint or Burgess Hill.
The extensive tree cover could play havoc with the GPS signal, but hey, that's all part of the fun! As it's on a well-used footpath/bridleway, muggles can approach from two directions without warning!
31/8/15 The cache is now not at ground level (see hint) due to the number of pots that went missing; please try to leave the container in place and just remove the lid and log.
A pen is a cacher's fundamental tool so please bring a writing implement. In view of previous 'didn't have a pen' logs, please don't trouble to log it online if you haven't logged it in the field, see the geocaching guidelines. Such logs may be deleted.
Good luck Geocachers!
