My original thought on this visit to Camano Island was to leave a nasty little micro cache as my second obligatory cache. I certainly have found enough of them while “up north” and DNFed some as well.
Then last night (08/16/08) while watching the smooth, glassy, undulating waves lapping at the shoreline, seeing one of the most glorious sunsets I have ever experienced, the words of a song I learned in grade school started going through my mind.
“For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love, which from our birth
Over and around us lies.
I started thinking about all of the kindnesses fellow cachers have shown to me during the time of my stay here. I decided that this cache needed to be left in a beautiful spot so that you would have a great walk, enjoy nature, and have good thoughts while finding it.
“For the beauty of each hour,
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of night.
So thanks for letting me enjoy being “up north” once again, doing your caches and visiting with you.
”For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild.”
It is about 1/3 of a mile to the turn-off point from parking and then another 1/3 mile to the cache site. The cache is hidden 70-75’ inside the forest from the clearing. It is behind a familiar object.
