Geocache Description:

The Bedlam Cube series will be archived 4th of August 2016!

The Bedlam Cube

The Bedlam cube is a solid dissection puzzle invented by Bruce Bedlam. The puzzle consists of thirteen polycubic pieces: twelve pentacubes and one tetracube. The objective is to assemble these pieces into a 4 x 4 x 4 cube. Although this puzzle has an enormous number of solutions, it's a hell of a job to find one!! For more info about this cubic puzzle visit: Official bedlam puzzle site

I was really flabbergasted about the number of solutions this puzzle has, so I decided to investigate these solutions in more detail. Below you see an arbitrary example side of a solution. The ratio of the three colors yellow:red:blue is for this side 6:5:5.

Steps to find the cords of this cache:
  • Download the solver. This solver computes all solutions within approximately 10 minutes.
  • Find the solution that has exactly 4 sides with the same ratio for the colors.
  • How many solutions have an unicolor side?
  • Multiply these two numbers and add 638722.
  • Last six digits = ABCDEF
