Geocache Description:

This was a stop on the Pony Express run through Nevada. It was also a dinner stop for the stages heading East and West. "Yanks" as the locals called it had the reputation of being a fine place to take a meal in 1861.

Ephraim "Yank" Clement had a custom of holding an annual "Grand Ball" at the station that was usually an all night affair. People came from miles around to be a part of the ball. During the summer months, there were also horse races held on a 1/2 mile track in front of the old Yanks Station.

By 1910 there were several old structures, a 13 room hostel, livery stables, cooperage, general merchandiss store, saloon and corrals.

In 1938 all the buildings were destroyed by fire but by the early 1970's the area was back in business.
