Bowen Island is just a 20-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay and a great day-trip for Brownie, Guide and Pathfinder units, as well as Trefoil Guilds, Guiders and families. Leave the car behind. Besides the picturesque shops, cafes and artisan boutiques, there is a fish hatchery to visit. The fish ladders are very different and impressive, and a walk to the picnic area at Killarney Lake is a reasonable walk for all. Do try the geocaching. It's not far from the ferry landing.
Those feeling more energetic could manage the very peaceful and interesting walk all around the lake which is a further 4km (a little far for Brownies.) The whole trip could be combined with several challenges in the Brownie, Guide and Pathfinder programs. It's a great area for wildflowers and tree-naming, birds and hiking. Enjoy.
This cache is place by Lions Area Girl Guides, girls and women from Pemberton to Squamish, from the Sunshine Coast to Deep Cove, dedicated to FUN, ADVENTURE and SERVICE. Each cache is filled with Girl Guide related items. Please bring your own crests and pins and trade fair.
