Geocache Description:

The old man in the stone

The Old Man in the Stone was first laid in the old courthouse on August 16, 1894, by Frank E. Gavin. It was the keystone in the center arch. Labelle and French was the architect of the courthouse that was destroyed by the tornado. The Old Man was recovered and now sits as a monument on the grounds of the new courthouse. Bill Altheer, county engineer, designed the setting. Doug Roberts was the White County highway superintendent at the time, and he and his men put the stone there in 1980.

This is in a very high traffic area, literally ha ha.
Muggles will almost always be present. Please be sure to replace the cache and cover well.
