Unsurprisingly, the vast fortress with its dramatic history is the great attention-grabber on these islands corking the narrow straits of Drøbaksundet. But further afield there's plenty more to see and do - military barracks and depots, a children's playground, a marina, several small beaches and not least the island commander's private bathhouse.
There's enough on these islands to keep you busy out here for a full day. You can even spend the night in the old military barracks, visit various cafes and have a grand meal in the fortress' gourmet restaurant.
The cache was initially hidden under stones on the northern slopes of Nordre Kaholmen. However, after 12 years of service and a bizarre muggling event in late summer 2020, I felt it was necessary to move the cache to a different place and recreate it in a more timely way. The cache is now a modified PET tube containing lots of logstrips, a pencil and a moose. The old military food container has been taken home for cleaning and a much-needed paintjob before it will be reasssigned to another mission. And, since this is not really Oscarsborg and the Treasure is long gone (i.e. looted by that plague on our community, the downward trading visitors), I have decided to change its name.
