Geocache Description:

This is a mystery, multi-cache to “MNMCA$H”

("Where sweetness and richness abound!")

**Founded August 24, 2008**

Note: THE COORDINATES GIVEN ABOVE (@ Elev. 680') ARE NOT THE ACTUAL CACHE COORDINATES TO MNMCA$H! See the instructions below to find out how to get to this cache. It will be logged in as a find on this page.

The coordinates given above are for the recommended trailhead, starting point (located on Cuca St., off I-15 at Carmel Mt. Rd. in PQ...within walking distance of the Doubletree Golf/Tennis Resort). You will find street side parking here and the most direct approach to the first cache. This entry point falls on Open Space Preserve land and not private property (note: you can also enter from Manzella Dr). From here you will be searching for a series of 4 caches, the final one of which culminate in the coordinates for MNMCA$H. ALLOW 1-2 HOURS ROUNDTRIP to complete this trek comfortably (An optional loop, return trail will be explained at the MNMCA$H).

Getting to MNMCA$H requires mountain hiking and some scrambling. The initial ascent is steep and will take you along the eastern edge of the Black Mt. Open Space Preserve, an area that escaped recent wildfires. You will discover spectacular views of the Palomar Mt range to the north, Mt. Woodson and Iron Mt to the east (Cuyamaca Peak on clear days), and Lyons Peak, San Miguel Mt, and the Cowles/ Fortuna Mts. to the south. The ridgetop provides good vantage points for viewing both the evening sunset, balloon rides over Carmel Valley and the annual, Miramar Naval Base airshow! Beautiful wildflowers can be prevalent in the wetter spring months. A keen eye may find you colorful butterflies, a flock of California quail (our state bird), or a solitary red-tail hawk along the path (deer once roamed these areas before the construction of 4S Ranch). It is recommended that you make this trek in the am and pm hours, especially in the hot, summer months! Bring lots of water and a hiking stick (watch out for snakes). Wearing pants and a long sleeved t-shirt are also recommended, as there may be some light bushwacking in this area. Hiking Boots are also advisable, as the trails are rocky and somewhat unstable in nature.
