Geocache Description:

Find this cache at Cape Merry Battery, part of Prince of Wales Fort National Historic Site. Parking is available.

Admission to the site is free. Parks Canada bear monitors and Heritage Presenters are present at scheduled hours during July and August. Call the Parks Canada office in Churchill at 204-675-8863 for more information. VENTURING TO CAPE MERRY DURING UNMONITORED HOURS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. BE AWARE THAT THIS IS POLAR BEAR COUNTRY.

Read the brochure in the cache to learn why Churchill is such an important destination for researchers and as well as which three major ecosystems can be found in the region. Also, learn the wildlife and vegetation found at this beautiful site. In accordance with Parks Canada regulations, there are no trade items permitted in this geocache. Keep to the trails as much as possible to avoid damaging the fragile landscape. Happy hunting!
