From Beer To Eternity
Find all the caches in the series to get the co-ords to the final,
and finish off a nice circular of about 4 miles over mostly flat
countryside. If you are at GFAB this series is designed to be
walked from camp - the first cache is literally 10 yards
off-site!
SHEPHERD NEAME
The story began in 1698 when a mayor of Faversham, Capt Richard
Marsh of the Cinque Ports Militia, founded a brewery over an
artesian well in Court Street, known then as North Street.
At that time, Faversham was a bustling port, and already enjoyed a
brewing tradition dating back to the 12th century when King Stephen
founded a Benedictine abbey just yards from the present brewery
site. It didn't take the Cluniac monks long to discover that
Faversham's pure spring water could be combined with locally-grown
malting barley to produce a particularly fine ale.
Early 18th century records reveal that Richard Marsh was a brewer
of some size and certainly larger than the 23 other brewers in the
town.
Below are ten ales produced by Shepherd Neame. In the cache,
you'll find one of these ales. This will correspond to a number
below, which will give you LETTER J in the series finale.
