Geocache Description:

Come out and help us plan for the 2009 Texas Challenge event to be hosted by Central Texas! We'll be meeting from 1pm-3pm at the I35/290 Fuddrucker's

We need as many people as possible to show up for this meeting! I've agreed to help coordinate the efforts and Mrs. Captain Picard is heading up the format committee, but there are a LOT of other jobs where we'll need volunteers.

A few committees could be: (in case you see your "calling")
  • Registration
  • Fundraising (coins, sponsors, silent auction)
  • Logistics (helping organize lodging, meals, onsite needs)
  • Event souvenirs (t-shirts, coins, etc)
  • Games/fun (other activities NOT part of the main competition)
  • Challenge competition (helping Mrs. Captain Picard with the main "game")
We'll need people who are willing to head the committees in addition to general volunteers.

The Central Texas team is very large geographically, but we NEED folks from all of our communities to help spread the workload. I hope to have some additional events in San Antonio and Waco to make it easier for those not in Austin.

Showing up at the event doesn't mean you HAVE to volunteer. If you're not sure about being a worker, come on out and offer your suggestions for the event, say hi to some fellow geocachers, or maybe grab a burger if you want.

WHAT? you say you have no idea what the Texas Challenge is? It's a fun, geocaching weekend to gather folks from all over Texas!

Of course, there is a geocaching-based competition, but that's only a part of the festivities. The activities aren't fully decided, but some ideas could be geocoin trading, friendly games, a disco party, live music, door prize drawings, camping, hiking, etc.!!! It's also a great chance to meet geocachers from all over and talk to them about their caching experiences and ideas.

There will be plenty of things for people to do even if you don't get into the "competitive" thing.

As the host region, it's our job to make sure all of those things happen smoothly and that we get to have some fun ourselves that weekend!!!

Be sure to watchlist this cache for further details!
