This GC is located a short walk from a road, near the Tuolomne river. There is a dirt pullout on the side of the road near a pathway leading to the area where the GC is hidden. If you are staying at the Berkeley Tuolumne Family Camp it is a short walk down river near Cobble Beach.
The GC is an Ammo Can. Hidden along the beautiful Tuolomne river. This is called the Ben Goldman Memorial Cache in honor of our friend Ben Goldman, who introduced us to GeoCaching during a wonderful camping trip in Big Basin Park in the summer of 2008. Sadly, Ben is no longer with us, but his spirit lives on in our hearts. Ben was a "connector" and will be remembered with a big smile by everyone he came in contact with - which was a lot of people! Ben *always* had a smile on his face and was ready to lead the way into uncharted and great adventures. Ben inspired everyone he met to live life to the fullest. We know he would have had a fun time trying to find this GeoCache.
We did not have time to order any official Travel Bug Dog Tags so we added a couple of our own with an email address on the dog tag. Send a note if you want about your adventures GeoCaching or any adventures worth sharing!
The contents are the following:
1. Grogger - For Booing the wicked Haman. Ben would have loved this!
2. Two new practice baseballs from my sons little league team, still in the plastic wrap, left over from the season.
3. There are 4 hot wheels with dog tags. Email us if you find these and move them along...
4. A 1GB USB Key. --- Something special for the "First to Find."
5. A couple of pencils.
6. The logbook, of course, which is a Spiderman logbook.
7. A Caribeener.
8. The required "what is a GeoCache" paper.
We chose this location due to its proximity to two of our favorite places/events, one is Berkely Tuolomne Family camp, just up stream from the GC and the other is the Strawberry Music Festival held 2 times per year at Camp Mather off of Evergreen road near Yosemite. Our family has had some wonderful times in these mountains swimming, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. These are a lot of the same things that Ben loved to do. We miss you buddy!
