Geocache Description:

A nano cache placed in a historic location. Log only. BYOP

This cache is located in a historical spot in Silver Spring, Maryland. It is the alley that was the primary dwelling place of Norman Lane (1911-1987) a man who spent more than twenty years sleeping on a cot in a mechanic’s back room in the alley and adding to the character of Silver Spring. He became known locally as “The Mayor of Silver Spring.” The bust was designed, created and funded by Silver Spring artist Fred Folsom in to commemorate Norman Lane’s ubiquitous presence over the years. The bust and signpost proclaiming “The Mayor’s Promenade” were installed and dedicated in 1991. This magnetic container is easily lost in its hiding place. Please return the cache EXACTLY where you found it so others can have the opportunity to find it.
