Geocache Description:

Off a short trail near the parking area.

Brownlee Covered Bridge
The Brownlee Covered Bridge is a new addition to the Mc Guffey Community Park located in Claysville, Pennsylvania. Also, known as the Scott, Brownlee Bridge, the 41 foot long kingpost bridge originally spanned Templeton Run near East Finley.
Although, the bridge had been added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 - Structure - #79002361900, and had long served the public well, it was removed from service, reportedly, because it was a hindrance to snowplows servicing area roads.
The structure was dismantled and kept in storage with the intent to reconstruct it at a new site in the future. Recently, an agreement was made allowing the bridge to be relocated to the Mc Guffey Community Park, where it could be reconstructed and enjoyed by local residents and covered bridge enthusiasts.
The bridge was restored in 2008, and is a beautiful addition to the lovely town park! A piece of transportation history which shall be admired by future generations, including the many visitors to the Washington & Greene County Covered Bridge Festival, each September!
Mc Guffey Park will be one of the many venues for the festival activities. The 2009 festival will be held Sept. 19-20, and includes many types of entertainment, demonstrations, food and fun!
