A nice little hike and two part cache through State Game Lands 305. Round trip is a little over 1.5 miles and about 400' elevation gain and rocky in spots. The map listed below is helpful, but not required. Not recommended with ice or snow on the ground or in the dark.
Diakon is a juvenile facility and prefers not to have visitors, the trail runs along the border between the game lands and their property. The first trail is narrow, and winds around a bit at first. Keep the private property signs on your left on the way out. The trail will get you very close to part 1, then it's time to head cross country for the final. I usually backtrack a couple hundred feet on the trail before heading cross country. There is a massive sea of ferns between part 1 and 2. Keep the private property signs on your right on the way back. The white dots on the trees are the state game land boundary marks. That and the trail reference point should come in handy on the way back.
The first container is from the Cache of Caches, GC1DFVR, which is a great idea! It seemed fitting that it started in one game lands and moved to another.
Please exercise care during hunting season and follow all regulations on the game commission web site noted below. This one is probably the most relevant:
"(21) Except on Sundays, be present on State game lands from November 15 through December 15 inclusive when not engaged in lawful hunting or trapping and fail to wear a minimum of 250 square inches of daylight fluorescent orange-colored material on the head, chest and back combined or, in lieu thereof, a hat of the same colored material. The material shall be worn so it is visible in a 360° arc."
