The Handshake



I’ve been watching the DNC convention in Denver and it has inspired me. Really it has, not politically of course, but to create a new puzzle. I’ve watched all the hoopla and glad handing and thought, you could get callused shaking all those hands.

So here is the North puzzle challenge.

You are in a roomful of 40 people. Everyone is asked to shake hands with everyone. How many handshakes will there be?

From the North Coordinate, N 39-19.415 subtract the number of handshakes (abc) from the north decimal minutes.

The Exchange



My grandkids are already back in school and busy with their assignments. Of course, there are so many children in the classes, sometimes the teacher asks the kids to help with the grading.

So here is the West puzzle challenge.

You are in a classroom with 40 people of varying heights. The teacher has asked you to exchange papers for the purpose of marking them. However, nobody is allowed to change papers with anyone that is shorter than themself.
How many exchanges will occur?

From the West Coordinate, W 84-18.141 add the number of exchanges (def) to the west decimal minutes.
