Nice geocache destination to bring a picnic basket to (by boat or car).
Trader's Cove is a great spot we often boat to for a picnic lunch or supper. There are 5 or 6 moorage buoys just off-shore and there's also vehicle access if you choose to drive there (a bit of hike down from the parking lot I think). The area has a nicely manicured lawn, clean picnic tables and a great picnic shelter in case of rain. There's even a small children's play park to keep little ones occupied so you can enjoy the ambiance a while longer.
Bear Creek Provincial Park is just a few minutes away by boat or car.
This cache location is quite close to the shore, but DON'T try to get to the cache itself directly from the water... very rocky!! If you come by boat, moor offshore and swim or take a dinghy to one of the two beaches and approach the cache by land.
If you have small kids or a dog, take a few minutes to find the easy path... you don't have to climb straight up over the rocks, although that is probaby the most fun way to get there.
The cache is a 1 litre rectangular plastic box. When first hidden it contained a few new kids toys and school supplies as well as a camping trinket and a spanking new GeoCoin trying to get to the Nation's Capital. Make sure you hide the cache well after you find it.
Have fun!!!
