"Ora et labora" war der Leitspruch des Benediktinerordens und ist die Inschrift auf dem Naturstein-Denkmal nahe Schwabenrod.
Johannes Schmidt (1807-1884) aus Münch-Leusel errichtete diese Denkmal. Über den berühmten Worten ist zu lesen "Soli Deo Gloria" - "allein Gott in der Höh' sei Ehr".
Seinen Namen hat er ins Französische übersetzt: Jean Forgeron (der Schmied) Johannes Schmidt.
Das Denkmal, ein Findling, stand auf einem Podest, auf beiden Seiten ein Säulenstein zum Schutz. Symbolisch wollte er wohl die Parallele ziehen zum Herrn von Ribbeck im Havelland, der über den Tod hinaus segnend seine Hand über die Menschen ausstreckte. Seine letzte Ruhestätte sollte hier sein, mit dem Blick auf seinen Hof und seinen Hauseingang. Diesem Wunsch wurde leider nicht entsprochen.
Ein kleiner "Drive-in" an der Location meiner Jugend mit Geschichte ;o)
