Geocache Description:

Mist Micro #2 was placed to help you keep to the trail on Mist Ridge. Also it should provide some incentive to continue on to Rickert's Pass. (Unless you came from there, in which case it will guide you home.)

From the Mist Creek Day Use area on highway 40, follow the trail up mist creek about 2 Kms where you will see that the trail forks. Take the right fork that will eventually lead you to the top of the ridge. There you will find "The Viewpoint on the Mist Creek Ridge" cache. From there, resist the horsetrail leading down and climb even higher on the ridge where the views of the Misty Range to the west and the Highwood Range to the east are spectacular. Mount Gibralter lies to the north.

The area teems with elk, sheep, the odd goat and a grizzly or two.

The entire hike along the ridge to Rickert's Pass and back down the Mist Creek horse trail is not for the faint of heart. It will take at least 8 hours and involves a "net" elevation gain of 800 meters.
