A high clearance vehicle is recommended but not required to drive to the Parson's Trail head. Road crosses a few washes which can flood during monsoons. 1.5 mile hike with a short scramble up some loose rock at the end. Bring your camera, wading shoes and a bathing suit to cool off at the swimming hole.
The Parson's Trail is a 4 mile hike which crosses the creek 6 times before reaching Parson Springs. This is the first of a few caches that we are planning in this area. The initial portion of the hike is semi-steep (see photos) but levels off in about a 1/4 mile. The rest of the hike to this first cache is pretty flat with minor elevation changes. You will be crossing the creek a couple of times before reaching one of our favorite swimming holes. You will continue a short distance along the path till the GPSr shows the cache perpendicular to your location.
I used a drainage area to get up to the cache. Please tread lightly to minimize your impact. If the area begins to show signs of foot travel, please advise us and we will find another location nearby.
Cache is a .30 caliber ammo can. We left a pencil but, as always, we recommend you bring a writing tool along just in case.
CONGRATULATIONS TO Moonfox FOR THE FTF!!
