MathGen: This one is close to a nearby Letterbox cache, and has caused some confusion.

This cache is located at a bend in the French Trail, between the Chown Trail and the Orchard Trail, in Redwood Regional Park (in the hills above Oakland, CA), which arguably has some of the loveliest hiking trails in the SF Bay Area.
The French Trail winds through some very lovely forested area, and in particular through several clusters of redwood trees. This is one of those spots.
This cache is a small black metal container (2 inch tall, 0.9 inch wide).
Because GPS reception is spotty, here is a rather explicit description of the hide: It is hidden in the bark on the opposite side of a tree, about 20 ft uphill from the trail just where the trail bends. Be sure to replace the cache exactly as you found it.
