A
fantastic drive through the woods to the ridge that runs along the
Tom Rock mainline above Mill City. Bring a camera as there are some
of the best views around all along the drive. At the cache there is
an amazing view from the cliffs edge that is beyond compare. There
is ample parking at the trailhead that goes out to the end. Don't
just go for the cache, continue the rest of the way, about 400 feet
or so, out to the point, you won't be sorry. This is the first of 4
caches that we placed on the way out the road system. After you
leave this cache and go east on the road take a look back and see
where you were just at. But on the way to this cache don't forget
to go for Rockin' Tom on your way by, it is a great cache with
great views.
Remember that this is the
forest and that during certain times of the year there are hunters
up here. Also, bears and cougars have been seen in the area, so be
prepared. We bring protection, but if you don't have a firearm at
hand, just make sure that you NEVER go alone, and while walking
make noise like talking to alert the critters that your there, that
usually makes them tuck tail and run.
You
are looking for a thermos container that I got from a friendly
Dragon friend of mine. Please make sure that you replace the cache
exactly as found, or it might end up as target practice material
that the rednecks just love to shoot.
